NJGLB is an LGBT League

We are a league formed for the LGBT community to meet, compete and socialize.  We are open to all sexual and gender orientations.

We are a "fun league"

A fun league focuses on socializing and friendly competition.  We also have two "fun" nights during our season which do not count towards our league standings (these are "nonscoring" nights).  One of these nights is the first week of the season, which allows us to get our start-of-year paperwork and getting to know each other done more smoothly.  The second fun night is held in October, and has historically been our league's Halloween party and costume contest (which is also open to guests of our bowlers).

We do play music during our bowling, which is selected by our "team of the week".  A different team is chosen each week to bring or make CD's of their choice which will be played during that week's bowling.

One event that our bowlers have looked forward to for many seasons is our year-end banquet.  Our party committee always plans a great theme and an amazing event for the end of our season!

During the year, there are also other events (such as winter parties or group outings), tournaments which many of our bowlers travel to, games of skill, cupcakes to celebrate our bowlers' birthdays and more!

When and Where We Bowl

Our league bowls on Tuesdays at 9:15pm at Brunswick Olympic Zone Lanes, located at 679 Washington Avenue in Belleville, New Jersey.  Our regular bowling season runs from September through May, with summer social nights as well.  Brunswick Olympic Zone Lanes is easily accesible from area highways (Garden State Parkway, Route 3, Route 26, Route 80, and Route 95/New Jersey Turnpike).

Skill Levels

We welcome bowlers of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced.  Our league uses a handicap system which "levels the playing field" and allows bowlers to compete at their own level.

League Sanctioning

We are sanctioned through both the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and the International Gay Bowling Organization (IGBO).  Bowlers must pay sanction fees individually to USBC, which the league pays sanctions on a per-league basis to IGBO.  Scores bowled during our league qualify for all rights and awards offered by both organizations.

Community Outreach

NJGLB Bowlers have a wide variety of interests and many are directly involved in causes that are important to them.  We always try to support our members' charitable interests by promoting fundraisers and other charitable events through our league emails and announcements.  Our league also makes charitable contributions annually to several organizations voted on by our league bowlers
